 Being subjected to repression

Prisoners of Stalinogorsk

One the biggest polish groups (more than 6300 people, among them 3500 were arrested as being belonged to Kraevaya Army and other antihitlerlite underground formations) were in soviet camps since 1944. This group was kept as internment in two close camps of PCIA-MIA of USSR with the лагуправлениями in Stalinogorsk in Moscow area (nowadays Novomoskovsk in Tula area): in testing filtration camp ·283 and in prison camps ·388. The majority of the лаготделений of the both camps were placed near mines of Podmoskovny caol field in Moscow area and partially in Pyazan area. Arrested polish citizens were conveyed to stalinigorsky camps in January-march 1945 from the territory of the present Poland and from Vilnius and some dozens of people were conveyed from other camps in 1945-1946. Among them 327 people died during the period of internment and the others (except for the runners and condemned during the period of internment) came back to the motherland beginning from September 1945 till 1949.
